Welcome to Gregory Hills Public School

We opened our gates on 31st January 2023 to the Gregory Hills community to welcome students into our ever-growing school population. Our school year began with 180 students and has rapidly grown over the last 12 months.

This year will still see us in temporary buildings with flexible modular spaces that help us to educate while construction of our permanent school is underway. The new build is still on track to be completed mid-2024 and will include a massive 44 classrooms and cater for 1000 local students. At present we are able to fully operate as a school with 19 general learning spaces, administration and staff facilities, communal hall, canteen, out of hours school care, covered outdoor learning area, open play space and library.

Alison Rourke - Principal

It is such a privilege and an honour to introduce myself as the foundation principal of Gregory Hills Public School and to join this dynamic school community. I can assure you that I share in the school community's dedication to caring for children every day while providing them with an exceptional teaching and learning environment.

As an educator, I arrived at Gregory Hills Public School as an experienced principal having led two schools, Buxton Public School and most recently Fairy Meadow Demonstration School in Wollongong. My diverse and complex experiences have provided me with the skills and qualities to make Gregory Hills Public School a school of choice. Over the past four years I have been awarded the Commonwealth Bank and Schools Plus Teaching Fellowship Award for my work at Buxton Public School and in 2020 Fairy Meadow Demonstration School was named Primary School of the Year. Alongside my school communities we have strived to achieve excellence and worked together to connect, collaborate and continually improve.

Apart from being an educator I am a mum to two daughters Eliza and Charlotte. Both girls are studying and working and continue to teach me valuable lessons. They make my world brighter.

I firmly believe that every child can reach their full potential and that the relationship between home and school builds trust and respect that supports this growth. Our quest will be to empower children to be creative, curious, lifelong learners who contribute to a global world. I am excited to be a partner in your child's education, continually exploring new ideas to meet the needs of all children. Every child at Gregory Hills Public School will leave the school with dignity, purpose and options.

I cannot wait to meet you all and please know that my door will always be open to you, and I sincerely welcome your conversation and input into our school.

Our children will always be at the centre of every decision we make, and I cannot wait to see what this year brings.

Kindest Regards,

Alison Rourke

Foundation Principal of Gregory Hills Public School

Our school uniform is more than just attire; it symbolises a sense of unity and pride within our school community. Wearing it instills a sense of belonging and shared identity among students, fostering a spirit of camaraderie.

The uniform reflects the high expectations we hold for ourselves and it serves as a visual representation of our commitment to excellence and discipline, creating a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.

As we proudly wear our uniform, we not only adhere to a dress code but embrace a collective responsibility to uphold the values and reputation of our school within the broader community.

We have chosen Rainer Schoolwear at Narellan (behind Bunnings) as our supplier of choice, which specialise in the supply of quality school uniforms and accessories.

School Bytes is a program making it quicker and easier for parents to receive correspondence, statements and reminders, and access a secure payment gateway. Families are also able to receive excursion notes, information about events and make payments via this platform.

Upon enrolment at our school we would like all our families to follow the link School Bytes Parent Portal and register your email in the parent portal, using the same email that was completed on the enrolment forms for your child.

We also recommend to download the School Bytes app to your mobile device and take the time to navigate around it as it's a great tool for our families to use.

The GrHPS Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association is a group consisting of parents and citizens, whose purpose is to assist the school and promote the interests of the entire school community.

They consult with the parent community, students, and school staff to identify the main needs of our school, and plan accordingly how best to meet those needs. They work in close partnership with our school to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and other stakeholders in the school community.

Gregory Hills P&C Association was formalised on 11th September 2023.

Our Before and After School Care Services are run by Kids United - Gregory Hills. The centre offers a safe, caring and vibrant environment for students at Gregory Hills Public School. Kids United are located within the school hall and have access to covered playgrounds and fixed play equipment.

Before school, they provide a nurturing environment where all children are welcomed and can start their day with a wholesome breakfast. After school, the program ensures a seamless transition from the academic day to a supervised setting, offering homework assistance, recreational activities, and social interaction. This not only aids parents but also ensures that children receive quality care in a structured and enriching environment.

Kids United have dedicated staff who are committed to fostering a safe and stimulating space, allowing parents to pursue their professional obligations and other commitments with peace of mind, knowing their child is in capable hands.
