Gregory Hills Public School is committed to understanding and embedding positive wellbeing approaches, safe practices and inclusive education. We strive to achieve this through student agency and accountability, explicit teaching and modelling positive wellbeing choices and to supporting all students to be engaged with their learning.

We are committed to our School Vision Statement and strive in supporting all our students; Courageous learners are challenged by contemporary practices in a connected and collaborative community to become empowered citizens.’

Our school is an active partner of the 4C Transformative Learning (4CTL) organisation that empowers students, teachers and leaders with the capabilities to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Underpinning our daily practice of high expectations for our student Wellbeing are established and maintained through the principals of 4C Transformative Learning (4CTL), trauma-informed practice, inclusive practice, and social emotional learning.

We are committed to our School Excellence Plan (SEP) initiative, ‘Student Wellbeing and Belonging’, we embed a whole school approach to student wellbeing and belonging, where there is a collective responsibility for student learning and success. There is a whole school focus on improving attendance to strengthen student sense of belonging, engagement and outcomes.

How we support the wellbeing of every student

To achieve our goals, the key focuses, initiatives and programs prioritised and valued by our school community centre around supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing as part of everyday school life.

These focuses, initiatives and programs prioritise a shared understanding and responsibility in being Connected, Collaborative and Courageous in Wellbeing at our school, including social, emotional and cognitive learning, self-regulation, sense of belonging, which are supportive of positive mental health, healthy friendships and supports the prevention of bullying.

Gregory Hills Public School rejects all forms of bullying behaviours, including online (or cyber) bullying by maintaining a commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning community that promotes student wellbeing. Staff are committed to establishing evidence-based approaches and strategies that promote a positive climate where bullying is less likely to occur.

All members of the school community are active participants in building a welcoming school culture that values diversity and fosters positive relationships. A key component of a supportive school culture is building respectful relationships and an ethos that bullying is not accepted, in both online and offline environments. School staff actively respond to student bullying behaviour. We take a holistic school community approach by being committed and dedicated in the teaching and understanding of our school motto 'Connection, Collaboration and Courage' to ensure our school culture and the values are adhered to.
